![]() Through the years we have grown accustomed to the limitations that govern shooting during ceremonies at certain churches and synagogues. It may come as a surprise to some to find that during the ceremony, photographers are often prohibited shooting with flash. In some facilities it’s not uncommon to restrict or event prohibit shooting altogether during the ceremony in an attempt to spare the clergy or officiant from distractions. The churches and synagogues that do limit photography during the ceremony are often trying to protect the sanctity of the ceremony so ultimately they do have your best interest at heart. This situation presents a difficult situation when you believe you won’t have unlimited images of the actual ceremony. It is a difficult position for us too, as our goal as your photographer is to surpass your expectations and deliver precious images of all your wedding memories. As a business we must earn each venues trust while keeping our promises to you. We want to be welcomed back to their facility and avoid the ill effects of a pejorative reputation. Technically, nowadays we are better prepared then ever before for these situation, most professional wedding photographers should be more then capable of delivering images taken during your ceremony if flash is restricted. Remember, if you learn that your facility has restrictions that govern photography, talk openly about your concerns with your photographer. Ask them several questions about their cameras' capabilities and their own skills in low light situations. They should be able to answer your questions and alleviate any concerns you might have. If your photographer is capable of handling low-light situations and has experiences then you can relax and trust that you will come away with several images of your ceremony. In the end you will find that for the sake of the album and storytelling all you really need is a select few and that there is no real need for your photographer to become a distraction trying to get the perfect shot during your wedding ceremony. Educating yourself about the venue’s rules and insuring your photographer has what it takes can mean that the facilities' rules are respected but you do not have to be disappointed later.
