#1 No more "Cheese"
The word “cheese” is a relic of early photography…don’t use it! Like the familiar antique black-and-white images of the early twentieth century, where subjects are posed rather stiffly and have bleak expressions, "cheese" should be retired from the modern photographer’s repertoire! Instead of asking for a smile use psychology! No, not the word “psychology” of course, but rather engage with the subject to explore his/her interests. Find something that they love and adore, be it a game, cartoon or some other subject, it is your job as a photographer to find the inner beauty and interests of your subjects. It's here you will inspire and evoke the outward glow and unguarded emotion you are looking for. |
