There’s are many headshot photographers in Connecticut so how do you choose one that's right for your company? The ability to accurately light people of different skin tones is critical for a consistent result. Therefore, it’s important for anyone looking to get headshots take to examine the portfolios of headshot photographers. Be sure they have examples of people similar to you and your staff. Below we’ve listed a few tips to consider when looking for the right headshot photographer unique to your organization. Office Headshots A working headshot is one that is unique to you, and you want to always look like there is something subtle that is going on. A shot in your office at your desk is a good way to achieve this. Specific Headshots If the shot is too specific, it limits what the casting director can imagine you as. For example, if you are a really character-y actor, you don’t want to go overboard with some expression because then it becomes too specific. Use Multiple Headshots Several different headshots that show you in different light are a good way to diversify and present yourself at your best. A cohesive presentation of you in your business form with multiple examples can be a unique way to keep interest in YOU. Composition Errors A headshot should be a photo of your face in it’s entirety. It’s ok if a little bit of your face can’t be seen, but in essence you should be full-faced. Lighting Flaws Professional lighting can make or break your headshot. A photographer that knows how to properly light your headshot will make it sharp, poppy and contrasted. Wardrobe Issues What you wear in your photos should be a suggestion of your character and you at your best. Not being overly extreme. A formal businessman doesn’t need to wear glasses — the photo should just look more put together and proper. Hiding Visible Features. As mentioned before with composition errors, angling the headshot so you cant see the entirety of the face is no good. I believe you can have a headshot at an angle, but you shouldn’t be doing it to hide something. Look Like Your Headshot confidence and accuracy are hallmarks of successful business relationships, your headshot should look like you now, not at graduation. Make up Women should always hire a professional make-up artist who works commonly for the camera. Makeup combined with minor retouching can result in a great headshot. SophterLight works with a professional make up artist upon request for men and women .
